She Wanted That Pine Trestle Table Stained Dark
My niece and her husband are setting up housekeeping and needing to fill the rooms of their new home with furniture. So when they called on their Uncle Joe to make the dining room table I was honored to oblige. Well when I think of pine farm tables in the trestle style I think of a light shellac finish highlighting the pine's grain and occasional knot. When the kids said they wanted it stained dark ebony I winced. But after seeing the finished table with a distressed ebony finish I must admit it is growing on me. I enjoyed laminating the 2x lumber and working with the beefy legs. The hardest part was the pull out ends on the top to receive 12 inch leaves. The newly weds are happy with the table and are waiting on the buffet that will follow. What do you all think? Joe
