Hello, Reclaimed !

Peter Galbert has been making hand-crafted chairs in the Windsor tradition for as long as we’ve known him. An active teacher, writer, and toolmaker, Peter writes the Chairnotes blog, has developed multiple tools, and published his first book, Chairmaker's Notebook, in 2015. He operates a school in Rollinsford, N.H., dedicated to teaching chairmaking to students of all levels. Last year, he took Fine Woodworking Live 2018 attendees on an inspirational journey through his life as a woodworker and artist. Watch it here in this members-only video.

This year, Peter will be at Fine Woodworking Live again, but instead of speaking he’ll be hard at work building one of his favorite designs, a barstool with turned, bent legs. Peter will be making the stool all weekend, using traditional Windsor joinery and kiln-dried woods. Folks who attend will be able to stop by throughout the weekend and watch and ask questions. Video: Evolution of a Cabinet with Mike Pekovich

Listen in as Mike Pekovich talks about the long creative journey he takes when designing a piece of furniture. "Design is a slow evolutionary process, and I have to build a lot of pieces that might look like I'm staying in the same place. Someone might say, 'Well, that kind of looks like your last piece,' but in fact one part is different from the last piece. Changing a variable spins the piece in a different direction.”
