Bob Van Dyke, director of the Connecticut Valley School of Woodworking, has devised a nearly foolproof way to prevent glue squeeze-out. In this exclusive video, he demonstrates his technique on a typical mortise-and-tenon joint. For one, he uses a fairly small amount of glue, carefully brushing it onto the cheeks of the mortise-and-tenon. Then, as the video shows, he pauses briefly during the glue-up process to eliminate the problem before it becomes a problem.
