| Pope Resources Makes Conservation Sale of Forestlands Near Mount St. Helens |

| Last week Pope Resources revealed its agreement with the Columbia Land Trust to sell approximately 2,330 acres of forestland for $5.7 million. The project was years in the making, involving the participation of Pope Resources, Columbia Land Trust, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Skamania County for the forests on the southern flank of Mount St. Helens. "We are pleased to see the second phase of this innovative project move forward, and we are very optimistic about another state grant that will help us conserve an additional 3,074 acres under a conservation easement," announced Jon Rose, president of Olympic Property Group, Pope Resources' real estate subsidiary. ...Click here to read the rest of this article.

| Lumber futures made gains on increased cash activity. Producer sales improved firming mill quotes prompting short covering with some new buying. Commercial buyers bought the "spot" May contract which expires Wednesday for delivery/EFP in lieu of cash purchases as well as technical buying on oversold indicators.
