Union Seeking Full Disclosure on Burns Lake Explosion
 
Representatives of the workers union at Burns Lake Sawmill have requested the BC Safety Authority make their entire 90 page report public. The Authority has released the safety recommendations included in the report but is withholding other portions describing the nature and cause(s) of the accident.

Lumber futures closed narrowly mixed after trading both sides of unchanged. Prices rose in the after-hours market on speculative short covering from increased mill offshore sales. However the gains were modest and the market pulled back off the highs from a lack of follow through buying and mixed selling centered on speculative long liquidation while cash prices remained flat. Selling increased on the break with small sell stop orders in July near yesterday's low of $337.00 uncovering support on short covering and technical buying in front of the 200 day moving average of $336.30. Prices traveled sideways through the rest of the session on non-featured fairly balanced trade.

Market Update
 
U.S. stocks set yet another record yesterday, as the Dow closed above 15,000 for the first time and the S&P 500 ended at another record high, extending the market's rally following German industrial data that beat expectations. In New York, the Dow Jones settled up 87 points at 15,056.20. Canada's main stock index recorded its fourth straight gain yesterday as strength in financial and consumer discretionary stocks offset declines in gold producers. In Toronto, the S&P/TSX closed up 10.19 points at 12,464.11.
