| April first saw the enactment of new financial protections to help forestry contractors make sure they get paid. Contractors now have the ability to make a charge on accounts or register a lien on delivered products. More on this story is available in today's Industry News category.

| The widespread drop in economic confidence closed Lumber Futures sharply lower. Falling cash prices on softening demand, a drop in Builder Confidence for the third straight month and vast concerns of a global economic slowdown tumbled markets. The NAHB Builder Confidence index lost 2 points to 42 down from last month which is the lowest rate since October's 41 point showing. Reports that the Chinese economy is slowing evidenced by the 7.7% lower Gross National Product tanked Gold and Oil futures which spilled over into the broad based markets all pressured by massive long liquidation selling. ...Click here to read the rest of this article. |
